What Are You Gathering? A Lammas Reflection

Lammas, or Lughnasadh, marks the First Harvest — the halfway point between summer and autumn. The fields swell golden, and the land begins to soften under the weight of ripeness. There’s something sacred in this time… a kind of pause. A deep breath between the effort of growth and the urgency of harvest.

The colours of Lammas are the hues of ripeness:
Ochre, burnt orange, sun-baked gold, rust.
Think wheat fields ready to cut. Cornflowers in bloom. Blackberries fattening on the vine.

This is a time of gratitude — not for the “perfect” outcome, but for what has come so far. For all that has managed to root and grow despite the wildness of this year. Even if it doesn’t look like you imagined.

And here’s the truth: many of us are so wired for striving that we forget to gather. To celebrate. To receive.

Lammas invites you to pause and ask:

  • What have I already grown this year?

  • Where can I acknowledge the work that’s been done?

  • What parts of me are still in the field, ripening in their own time?

The wheel is turning. You don’t have to rush into autumn just yet.
You can gather what’s here, and trust what’s coming.
